Alexis Rodriguez ’01 was looking for an intimate campus experience and a great business program. When she discovered Pace’s small student-to-teacher ratio and generous financial aid package, she knew it was the right place for her.

As a student, Rodriguez excelled under the direction of her mentors, Dyson Media and Communication Arts Professors Maria Luskay, EdD, and Robert Klaeger, and decided to pursue a major in communications. She landed two prestigious internships at Magic Lantern, an NYC-based independent film publicity company, and DNA Public Relations in Rye, NY. Her employers at DNA were so impressed that they hired her full-time during her senior year for a work-study program.

Upon graduation, Rodriguez had solidified her passion for public relations. She went on to have a rapidly excelling career in public relations and marketing, working for major agencies including Ketchum and Tractenberg. She represented clients like Johnson & Johnson, Sephora, and Stila, before being hired to head the beauty line at Diane von Furstenberg and eventually become the Director of Global Communications. She then moved on to serve as Public Relations Director for Parfums Givenchy and Pucci Fragrance and two years ago, she joined Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as Executive Director of Public Relations, again leading the corporate and personal public relations efforts for an industry icon. She also founded “The PR Closet,” an advice column and blog for aspiring beauty and fashion publicists who want to learn how to break into and succeed in the industry.

“My success as a public relations professional comes from the education I received at Pace,” says Rodriguez. “I have been able to apply something from each of my courses to my career.”
