What is Emergency Management?
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the University’s preparation for (before), response to (during), and recovery from (after) any major emergency (PDF), no matter the cause. The safety and security of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the University is very important. Our primary responsibility is to coordinate the University’s emergency response and continuity planning. Our goal is to improve Pace University’s resilience to a disaster.
To improve our disaster resilience as a community.
Protect the University’s mission by mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from any major emergencies or disasters through an “All Hazards” approach.
- Provide emergency management oversight, coordination, and situation awareness to a broad and diverse group of University partners.
- Employ an integrated all-hazards risk based approach for mitigation, response, continuity of operations, recovery, and preparedness planning.
- Create a “culture of preparedness” among the students, faculty and staff by improving awareness and comprehension of what to do before, during, and after major emergency and disaster incidents.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve enhanced emergency communications capabilities.
