Dyson - BA
Communications \ Theater

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Kenilworth, New Jersey, a small town located not very far outside of the city. I entered Pace University in the fall of 2008 as a Theater major. Now going into my junior year, I am a dual major studying Communications and Theater. I chose to pursue a dual degree to expand on what I’m learning and make myself an overall better candidate within the entertainment industry.

What co-op/internships are you currently participating in or have completed?
I completed my first Co-op internship in the spring of 2010 with a great organization in Manhattan called the Center for Communication. It was a wonderful experience in which I got to meet a lot of exciting people. I am currently in my second internship with the third largest music company in the world, Warner Music Group. I am grateful to be in such a fun position with so much to learn! The experience is priceless.

How did you get involved with Career Services and what resources would you recommend to other students?
I visited Career Services during the Spring 2011 semester.  I met with Ms. Ivy Aviles-Rivera and we immediately began discussing my desires that pertained to obtaining an internship.  She discussed with me my options, as well as the pros and cons to each.  She had faith in me in the endeavors that I wished to pursue.  She assisted me with revising and updating my resume, and she gave me helpful information concerning interview dress and etiquette.  As soon as she received information about Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc.'s need for a Hospitality and Tourism Coordinator, she forwarded me the email and I sent in my resume and set up an interview right away!

What do you like most about being a Pace University student?
Not only the fact that Pace is located in the most amazing city in the world, Pace also has a lot to offer academically and socially. The academic resources like the Tutoring Center, Writing Center and Co-op and Career services are very beneficial. I have utilized each and found myself learning and improving after each visit. Socially, the Honors College provided me with the opportunity to travel to New Orleans over spring break, where I got to volunteer at schools during the day and enjoy the amazing city of New Orleans at night. It is comforting to have such great programs within the Pace community.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan on studying abroad in the spring of 2011. After graduation, I hope to start my career right here in New York City.
