Academic Alerts Online - Starfish
In an effort to support the academic success of our students, we have brought in Starfish to replace the old academic progress reports system. Starfish will allow faculty to easily alert advisors about students who may be encountering difficulties in class. Starfish will also inform the student about their professor's concern. Note that this online system allows you to enter an alert at any time during the semester. We ask that faculty submit at least three times per semester and we send faculty periodic surveys. The goal of this initiative is to help ensure our students’ academic success, improve their collegiate experience and raise the university's retention rate. Electronic submission of these reports will be transmitted immediately and thus allow first year advisors to intervene with students in a timely fashion. For upper division students, the advising offices will have access to the reports but resolution of the issue, unless escalated, is left to the student who has been informed of the issue and the faculty member who has notified the student.
Faculty can sign into the program by clicking on the tab to the right. The username and password are the same as your Portal/Blackboard username and password. Once you have successfully signed in as a faculty member, you will be able to open a roster for each course you teach. From there you can enter reports on your students. If a survey has been distributed it will appear at the top of the initial page and can be used to quickly report on your class.
