The College of Health Professions and the Lienhard School of Nursing's Associate Professor of Graduate Nursing, Andréa Sonenberg, PhD, WHNP, CNM-BC, FNAP, recently visited Brazil to teach students at Universidad Federal Rio Grande do Norte. There, she was able to teach courses like History of Advanced Practice Nursing, Research & Evidence in Advanced Practice Nursing, Globalization of the Advanced Practice Nurse Role, and Education & Competencies for Advanced Practice Nursing.
While in Brazil, Professor Sonenberg was able to make a formal presentation at the Hospital Universitario Onofre Lopes - HUOL in front a multidisciplinary audience of Brazilian government official, presedents of the the nursing associations, and executives from other hospitals. After the presentation, her and her team were given a tour of the Innovations Lab, where multidisciplinary teams (engineers, computer technologists, doctors, nurses, social worker, & physiotherapists, etc.) work on addressing heath issues through development of innovative technological applications.
