2013 Commencements
The Honorary Doctorate is one of the highest honors Pace University can bestow upon an individual. Nominations for honorary degrees are reviewed by the Honorary Degree Committee chaired by Dr. Mark Allen Poisel, Associate Provost. Recommendations from the committee are made to the University President for selection. Final recommendations are made to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees and then sent for consideration to the full Board for approval.
Criteria for consideration:
· A positive role model and outstanding individual who publicly demonstrates deeds and accomplishments worthy of honor in a regional, national, or global context;
· A creative writer; a shaper of ideas and opinions in today’s society; a significant contributor to an academic discipline; or an entrepreneur, all of whose voices, through any medium, are aligned with the role of higher education in today’s society;
· An individual with professional or personal accomplishment that reflects Pace’s mission of Opportunitas;
· Alumni and others who have contributed to the civic, cultural, or philanthropic life of Pace or the community in a significant way;
