Mission

The Confucius Institute at Pace University is dedicated to provide first-class Chinese language and cultural education, resources, and services to meet the needs of people from all backgrounds. We want to help people explore their interests in Chinese civilization, open a new window for those who seek future opportunities for learning, growth, and career, to build up cultural understanding among humankind in order to co-exist in today’s era of globalization, and contribute to build a multicultural society and a peaceful world.

To realize our mission, Confucius Institute at Pace University (Pace CI) will function as a center for:

Chinese Language Education

  • Mandarin Chinese instruction for individuals or groups at the following levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced
  • Specialized courses in conversational, intensive, travel, and business Chinese
  • Customer-designed Chinese language “take-out” courses at your company or organization   
  • Chinese reading & writing courses
  • Tutoring courses for Chinese proficiency tests (HSK, BCT, & YCT)
  • Summer Chinese language and culture camps
  • “Chinese Bridge Competition”
  • “Chinese Corner” for practicing oral Chinese

Chinese Cultural Teaching, Research, and Activities

  • Chinese culture courses including, but not limited to, calligraphy, painting, dance, theater, martial arts, sports and trips to China
  • Scholarly seminars and lectures on Chinese cultural topics given by internationally renowned scholars
  • Opportunities for conducting research on Chinese-related topics in culture, history, philosophy, education, politics, economics, art, and society
  • Arts and cultural events and festivals, Chinese traditional holiday celebrations, and visits from foreign delegations

Chinese Proficiency Tests, Scholarships, and Overseas Study in China

  • Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) (the “Chinese TOEFL,” for work and study in China)
  • Business Chinese Test (BCT)
  • Scholarships to study in China
  • Information to study in China
  • Connections to study in China
