Chinese chess is a strategic board game for two players and one of the most popular board games in China. In this class, the pieces and their corresponding Chinese characters, cultural elements of the game, and basic strategy will be introduced.
Chinese songs can be beautiful in rhyme and pleasing to the ears. In this class, students will be introduced to a number of Chinese folk songs, exploring their poetic lyrics and cultural background.
Originally developed hundreds of years ago in China, Tai Chi is a martial art primarily known for its health benefits, including dealing with tension and stress. It is often promoted and practiced as a martial arts therapy for the purposes of health and longevity and is beneficial for people of all ages and lifestyles. Health Qigong is a traditional athletic exercise integrating the adjustments of body, breath, and mind. Qigong improves health, exploits the potential to achieve harmony inside the body by adjusting movement, breath, and mind. It distinguishes itself from other physical exercise with the unique integrated state of "three adjustments in one."
In this class, we will teach 24 form Tai Chi (Includes the original Tai Chi Elements) and Da Wu (is a health-method which channels the joins and dredges the meridians by the forms). The movements will be combined with philosophy depending on the level of expertise and individual needs of the students.
Lynn X. Lin is a national certified Tai Chi Kung Fu instructor and judge in the US. She also has coached varsity Tai Chi and Kung Fu teams in China and was named Coach of the Year three times.
