Construction Contract Administration Certificate
Learn about the basic legal and contractual documents needed for a construction project. Examine the structure for a contraction contract and review the American Institute of Architects (AIA) standard document forms. This course is essential for construction-orientated individuals who want to learn the contract administration process from the initial bid to the final contract proposal. Participants will receive a Pace University Certificate of Completion at the class conclusion.
Topics include:
- Bidding strategies and procedure for soliciting a construction bid
- Explore various techniques for structuring a bid proposal to the owner’s advantage.

Dominique Paraison has over 14 years experience in program/project management, architectural/design, construction, and site safety management with firms and institutions as McKissack & Associates (Philadelphia), Verizon Corporation (Design & Construction- Real Estate Portfolio Management), JW Consulting Engineer (Construction Site Safety Management/ Construction Management), City of New York Department of Design & Construction (Public Works- Design & Construction), private practice, teaching architectural and construction management & safety at university level. Mr. Paraison has extensive expertise in managing complex programs and demanding projects while maintaining daily business operations for public and private facilities. Projects include development of major project commitments – University Campuses educational, medical, engineering, laboratory, and teaching facilities, residential buildings and hotel/commercial mixed use complexes, Utilities & Telecommunication, and MTA Transits Projects – from initial concept through programming, design, and construction, to occupancy.
His extensive background has involved program-, project- and construction- management- safety management: master planning, programming, design, bidding and award, and construction; development of program-wide contracting strategy; bid packaging and award; owner/designer/ contractor coordination; contract administration; code & zoning ordinance, quality assurance/control; constructability, bidability and value engineering; best practices; quality management, safety and security, facility operations and maintenance management; arbitration and dispute resolution.
Teresa O. Malihan began her career working in the design and construction field in 1981. Professor Malihan has more than 27 years in corporate architecture/facilities designing trading floors for capital markets and their back office operations for companies like American Express Shearson Lehman, Morgan Stanley, Rockefeller Center Management Corporation - diversified portfolio from Corporate facilities management to high-end commercial and retail environment with sophisticated information technology systems. In 2004, she founded Teresa O. Malihan Architect, an innovative studio that focuses on providing all phases of architectural and engineering services from pre-design, zoning analysis, building code compliance, programming, schematic, design development, construction documents, project management, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, expediting and construction contract administration / owner’s rep. Some projects include: Dialog in the Dark & Bodies: The Exhibition at South Street Seaport, AJ Maxwells @ Rockefeller Center, Statler Grill@ Penn Station, Medical facilities - QLIMG, Financier, Veterinary Office for corporate / commercial. Private Residence: Tribeca; Great Jones in NOHO, Todt Hill Road, SI, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and Alpine, NJ.
