Meet the Human Resources Management Instructors!
Bob Calamai is currently a HR Consultant, and is also an adjunct professor at three NY area universities. He is currently teaching a graduate course in the Integrated Marketing program at NYU and a strategy course in the graduate HR program at Rutgers University. He also teaches two classes at the NYU Stern School of business – Strategic Talent Management in the MBA program, and Managing Change in the undergraduate program. He recently began teaching in the graduate HR program at Fordham University.
During the 2011-2012 academic year, he was the Interim Director of the New York University / School of Continuing and Professional Studies Graduate HR Program, and was also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the program. He assumed this role in September, 2011 after an HR career with IBM Corporation. Bob’s most recent role at IBM was the Director of HR for the Information Management organization of IBM. This global organization is responsible for developing information management software and services that integrates data and enterprise content for a broad array of IBM customers. He has also worked in several functional HR areas and in HR executive positions in multiple business units. In his previous position, he was responsible for the development of IBM’s worldwide HR Organization, which included hiring, training, leadership development, and succession planning for over 3,000 HR professionals.
Prior to his current teaching appointments, he was an adjunct professor in the graduate and undergraduate management programs at Pace University, and taught courses in Management and HR Management. Bob received his BS degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York and an MBA in HR Management from Pace University.
Greg Chartier, Ph.d., SPHR, GPHR, is a well-known management consultant, educator and speaker. His human resource practice is based on the Business Partner Model of Human Resources, which places its’ emphasis on outsourcing, the use of technology to gain efficiencies and the improvement of managerial skills. Dr. Chartier is a thought provoking professional speaker whose wisdom and insights into management and leadership make him an electrifying speaker and seminar leader. His philosophy is simple --management is a skill and you can be a better manager by developing your skills.
Dr. Chartier has a BA from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D. in Human Resources Management from Madison University. In addition, he is certified by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and as a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), is a national member of SHRM and the Treasurer of the local SHRM chapter, the Westchester Human Resources Management Association. He is a Board Member of the Business Council of Westchester, the Chair of the Human Resources Council and a member of the Executive Committee and is on the faculty of the Continuing and Professional Education Department at Pace University. Dr. Chartier will be teaching the in-person, classroom course for the Fall 2014.
Jimmie Flores, PhD, DM, PMP, SSBB, ITIL, SPHR, GPHR
Dr. Flores has held management and leadership positions in major companies including Shell Oil Company, The Prudential, and USAA. At USAA, he managed the $11.5 million budget for the IT department. He has extensive experience developing and teaching courses for organizations in the disciplines of Project Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Dr. Flores founded a global IT enterprise, and has operations in India and The Philippines. Dr. Flores has written several books including How to Become a Proficient Online Learner. He has earned two doctorates and seven master’s degrees.
Nancy Kelly, SPHR heads the Human Capital Practice at Hanover Stone Partners. Nancy is a global HR leader and strategist with hands on operational expertise. Prior to joining Hanover Stone, Nancy was the Chief Human Resources Officer of QBE Americas, a division of QBE Insurance Group, one of the top insurers and reinsurers worldwide. During her tenure she was actively involved in 10 acquisitions that supported the company’s growth strategy resulting in revenues increasing from $750 million (19% of global revenue) to $8 billion (40% of global revenue).
Ms. Kelly has an M.A from Manhattanville College and a B.A. in Psychology from Pace University. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), certified Human Capital Strategies (HCS), on the HR Advisory Council for the American Management Association, and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Ms. Kelly has been a guest lecturer at the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business and is a Board Trustee of the Morris-Jumel Mansion, a New York non-profit organization. Ms. Kelly is a co-author of Elevating Risk Management Within the Organization which appeared in the December 2012 edition of Risk Management magazine.
Ray LaManna, SPHR is currently the owner of his own human resources consulting firm, specializing in employee relations, training and coaching. In addition, he is Professor of Management at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. Mr. LaManna has extensive experience in the human resources field. Prior to establishing his own firm, Ray held positions as Director of Human Resources at the Parish of Trinity Church on Wall Street, Human Resources Director of Integrated Resources Inc., a diversified financial services firm, where he was responsible for all employee relations, recruitment and compensation functions as well as HR positions at Wells Fargo Bank and JP Morgan Chase. Ray is also a member of the graduate faculty of the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College, where he teaches graduate courses on organizational theory, human resources, change management and employee relations. For eight years, he was also chair of the Business Administration Department of Berkeley College.
Ray holds advanced degrees in theology, psychology and adult education and is presently a doctoral candidate in the Adult and Continuing education program Teachers College/Columbia University.
Ray has also been actively involved in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as national chairperson of the Management Practices committee. He is also national Subject Matter Expert for Module 1 of the Learning System-Business Management & Strategy. He has extensive experience as a guest speaker on HR and management issues and has life certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Jennifer Loftus, MBA, SPHR-CA, GPHR, CCP, CBP, GRP, is an Astron Solutions National Director and Founding Partner. She specializes in total rewards, salary surveys, opinion surveys, and HR technology. Jennifer has 18 years of experience garnered at Astron Solutions, Hay Group, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Eagle Electric Manufacturing Company, and Harcourt General. Jennifer is Past President of HR/NY, New York City’s SHRM Chapter, and is a SHRM Learning System subject matter expert. She is an alumna of SHRM’s Total Rewards Special Expertise Panel and SHRM’s Workplace Flexibility Advisory Committee. Jennifer is a sought-after HR speaker for local and national television, radio, and conferences.
Jennifer has been teaching the Certificate in Professional Human Resources Management course at Pace University since its launch in September 2001. Jennifer has an MBA in Human Resource Management with highest honors from Pace University and a BS in Accounting summa cum laude from Rutgers University.
Kevin J. Murphy, PHR is currently founder and Managing Principal of KJM Associates International LLC, Human Resources consulting firm offering HR services to small businesses, start-ups and pre IPO firms in the northeast. “XL Thinking for Small Businesses”. Mr. Murphy brings 30+ years of Human Resources experience in the areas of organizational design, executive coaching/strategic thinking and mission integration, bench staffing, employee and labor relations, expatriate relocation, compensation strategies and benefit design for domestic and international companies. Mr. Murphy is also an Instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Pace University for the PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification program and strategic HR courses.
Mr. Murphy received two undergraduate degrees from Pace University (New York) in Business Administration and Labor-Management Relations and completed the American Institute of Banking (AIB) certificate program. Mr. Murphy is a certified professional in human resources (PHR) former NJ State Director, College Relations of SHRM. He is also affiliated with the New Jersey Human Resource Planning Group (NJHRPG), the National Foreign Trade Counsel of New York, the Tri State Relocation Services (TRS) and the Independent Power Producers Human Resources Association (IPPHR) as a former Executive Board member.
Ray Rokicki Jr., MBA/HRM, PHR has been involved in a several areas of HR in the telecom industry. Ray`s most recent role has been HR Generalist. Ray has worked worked in a variety of telecom companies, including Nextel, Sprint, and Flextronics as a Store and District Manager. and he has shifted his career to become HR focused. Ray is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration and his anticipating completing his degree in 2016.
