The Fall 2017 Wellness Challenge runs from October 1 - October 29 and is designed to encourage participants to increase their well-being through engaging in wellness and self-care practices. This program is adapted from UMass Amherst's Counseling Center and results from their previous years show that participation improves social relationships and builds positive emotions while significantly reducing stress, anxiety and depression. These benefits persisted through the end of the semester.
The Challenge is open to all members of the Pace University community. Participants sign up to receive an email with a biweekly menu of activities based on the themes of social, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness. The Fall 2017 Wellness Challenge runs from October 1 - 29 and focuses on Social and Emotional Well-Being. The Spring 2018 Wellness Challenge will focus on Physical and Spiritual Well-Being.
Social Well-Being: October 1 - 14
Emotional Well-Being: October 15 - 29
What is required?
For each phase of well-being, participants will choose at least 3 programs from the list of programs being offered for that two week period and at least 2 activities to practice at least three times a week, when, where and with whom they like for each two week period. So, during the Social Well-Being Challenge (Oct 1 - 14), participants will choose at least 3 programs to attend and 2 activities to practice at least three times a week. During the Emotional Well-Being Challenge (Oct 15 - 29), participants will receive a new menu of programs and activies to choose from and will choose at least 3 programs to attend and 2 activities to practice at least three times a week. There are a broad range of programs and activities to choose from, so everyone can find something that is interesting and enjoyable to them. At the end of each well-being challenge, participants will receive an email prompting them to report on what they did for those two weeks before being given the next well-being challenge's menu of activities.
Staff and faculty that complete all 4 Wellness Challenge (Fall 2017 - Social and Emotional Well-Being; Spring 2018 - Physical and Emotional Well-Being) will receive a certificate of completion. For each well-being challenge that staff and faculty are able to complete, they will be entered into a raffle to receive two free movie tickets. Students who complete all 4 Wellness Challenges (Fall 2017 - Social and Emotional Well-Being; Spring 2018 - Physical and Emotional Well-Being) will be entered into a raffle in which we will be giving away 3 Buddha Boards.
