Lunch & Learn

The series is designed as a venue for faculty to showcase course-based instructional technology and important issues in Higher Education.

Case Studies

Do you use case studies in your teaching? If so, please join this conversation about how and why we use cases as a teaching tool. Led by Dr. Joan Walker (School of Education), the session will offer faculty across disciplines an inquiry-based model for developing and using case studies in online and face-to-face settings. Dr. Walker will also explain potential models for assessing what students learn from a case study exercise. Finally, using case studies as part of faculty scholarship will be addressed.

Transitioning to an Online Environment in the Event of an Emergency

Following the effects of superstorm "Sandy" (Oct. 2012) and as a result of the disruptions it caused to the operations of our university, a committee was formed to develop an academic continuity plan which could serve as a guide for faculty and students to continue instruction in the event of a similar emergency.  This plan was presented last year to both the Deans’ and Faculty Councils.  This session will cover the development of the plan and highlight some important points of the plan as it relates to the use of alternate methods for delivery of course material and for student-faculty communication during a prolonged closure of the university.
