Danielle CosgroveSo, first year huh? Confused…nervous…lost… are these some words that describe you right now? How about… ecstatic, ready and PACKED! I bet those do too. Do me a favor, sit back, relax, and let the latter three take over your persona. I can promise you, no matter how lost or confused you get, there is ALWAYS someone there to help you! And to back up that promise, let me fill you in on a little secret: that person is me. My name is Danielle. I’m going to be a sophomore at Pace Westchester in the Fall, and I’m involved in just about everything you can think of.

Become a college student is a scary turn in the road of life. It’s a huge change: you finally emerge from under the shadow of parent’s rules, you chose what you do, and when, and scariest of all, it’s kind of like getting lost in the middle of East Bumblewood, when you know you’re supposed to be somewhere near the George Washington Bridge. You find yourself surrounded by buildings you’ve never seen before, and faces that are completely unfamiliar.

If the metaphor of life being a road holds true, you can call me Navi. I’m here to act as the GPS that directs you out of East Bumblewood and over the bridge between you and the land of college students. There are going to be plenty of questions you have about this bridge, and chances are, I can answer them. If I can’t answer your question as thoroughly as I would like to, I will direct you to the correct place. Don’t ever feel like any question is too crazy, I was in your shoes once, I remember all the questions I had. Don’t ever be embarrassed to ask a funny question or too many questions. We’ve ALL had them. Upperclassmen were freshmen once too!

My first word of advice: Your first year is your most vital year. You need to establish your foundation as a college student within your first year. If you plan to make the most out of your college experience, take it from me, get out there and GET INVOLVED! Ask me anything about being involved, from Greek Life to Working on Campus- I’m involved in it all! So go ahead, ask away. And while we’re talking about questions for me again, don’t forget to ask about some good ways to stay focused in class. It is easy to get distracted as a new student, but academics must always be the number one priority. You must be a good student above all else. And, I can help you balance that with making the most of your extra-curricular/social life here at Pace. Keep track of this page, I will post more blogs as I receive questions. I will also post some that get into detail about some of the things I’m involved in on campus, and some of the opportunities I was granted here at Pace. It’s all pretty interesting, so make sure to keep checking back!
