It’s been a busy semester so far as Spring Break seems to be just around the corner. It is my senior year and I have been working closely with the Coop and Career Services Office as I look for a full-time job post graduation. The Career Services department has been such a great resource for me throughout my college career. They have assisted with building my resume, utilizing different job search tools, and looking for internships and job opportunities.
Throughout the course of the year, Career Services hosts various Career Fairs in which employers come on campus to showcase their companies and recruit students. The Career Fairs attract companies from all disciplines and are leading companies within their industries. Last spring I was fortunate enough to meet Pernod Ricard USA at the Career Fair, and was soon called in for an interview for an internship position. I received the position and worked at the company as a Marketing Intern reporting to the Global Brand Director.
At my internship I gained valuable knowledge and experience that can only be learned while having hands on experience. I was given projects that were constructive and productive being exposed to the ins and outs of brand management including everything from brand line extensions, advertising, promotions, trend analyses, and much more. This experience enhanced my education and provided me with useful skills and knowledge that I could carry both into my classroom experience and my profession.
Now the Career Service department at Pace University is assisting me in getting my resume out there and finding the best fit job for me. I have access to an exclusive online job search program that allows me to see and apply to jobs that Pace has found for its students through the great relationships they have with companies. These resources, in addition to the networking that I have done over the past four years, help make me feel confident as I enter into today’s job market.
Check back on my blog soon as I will have an exciting update from my Independent Study on “Advanced Cinematography: The Steadicam and Camera Jib." You will get a glimpse into what I have been doing as I train within one of my areas of studies Media and Communications.
