For All My Fellow Gleeks!

So I don't know how many Pacers are fans of the new Fox series Glee, but I know I am! I'm such a Gleek, (a person who is obsessed with Glee; a combination of the words 'glee' and 'geek') that I waited up all night on Monday/Tuesday to get the CD! So starting at 3:30am on Tuesday, November 3rd, two of my sorority sisters and I were up at Columbus Circle waiting in line to get the CD from Borders.

Now you're probably wondering why anyone would get there at 3:30 in the morning just for a CD. Well I'm sure many of you read Perez Hilton or watch some of the local news channels so you heard why this was such a big deal. For the first 400 people who showed up to buy the CD, you would receive a wristband that would allow you to come back later in the day to have the cast sign the CD! My friends and I figured that people would jump at the opportunity to meet the cast seeing as there were thousands of people who showed up to watch the cast perform the National Anthem at the World Series.

To our surprise there were only 5 people in front of us when we got there. The first pair of girls got there at 12AM. The pair after them got there at 2AM, and my good friend from NYU got there around 3AM. No one else showed up behind us until about 5AM, so we were clearly ready to be the first ones to meet the cast! The security guards came out and told us that we were crazy, but we didn't care. Meeting the cast of Glee was about to be one of the highlights of my semester.

After waiting outside for hours in the cold with my new found friends, at 7:30AM they let us into the Shopping Mall at Columbus Circle to wait in line outside the Borders until 9AM when the store opened. It was so exciting to be at the front of the line because we could see everyone behind us waiting. Finally, the store manager came out at 8:30AM and said, "You're patience has paid off. We are going to start letting you in now." I started freaking out and grabbing my blankets and bag to run inside. I bought my CD and used my Borders Rewards Card to purchase the 7th CD!! I ran outside screaming with my friends about how excited I was!glee pace

I came back at 4PM to get in line with the first 50 people to buy CD's. It was so intense waiting for the cast to arrive. Finally when they showed up around 5:45PM I could hardly contain myself any longer. I was finally going to meet the cast of my favorite TV show!! Each cast member signed my CD jacket and had a brief conversation with me before it was all over. The cast members were so friendly and genuinely seemed like they wanted to get to know us and talk to us more. Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes Jones, commented on my shirt and Dianna Agron, who plays Quinn Fabray, asked me where I went to school! It was an awesome experience and it could have only happened in NYC!

Gleek for Life,
