Attention All the Pace NYC Ladies

Melissa Goodfriend
There is something very special happening next week that you all should know about! It's Recruitment Week for the two Panhellenic Sororities on campus, Sigma Delta Tau and Kappa Delta. If you are interested in Greek Life on the NYC campus I can give you the inside scoop!

Hopefully, either Wed. Sept. 30th or Thurs. Oct. 1st, you made it to one of the Panhellenic Information Sessions. If not, don't freak out! All you have to do is email PacePanhellenic@gmail.com and they will set you up with a meeting to discuss Recruitment.

Here are a few things you should know about Recruitment since we are doing things a little differently this year:

You MUST sign up in order to go to recruitment events! Recruitment events for both sororities will be taking place Monday through Wednesday of next week. Come to any and all events that you can, but don't skip class to come to an event! Your first priority at Pace is school and we understand that. If you cannot make it to a lot of the events, talk to your Recruitment Counselor or the Recruitment Chair of either sorority. They will guide you to the proper person to talk to about setting up a meeting outside of recruitment events.

Thursday night is a very special night for both groups called Preference Night. This night is an invitation only event where you will be able to figure out if you really want to become a part of a particular organization. You may be invited to Preference Night by both sororities and they will coordinate so you won't have to be at two places at once. However, once bids go out (bids are invitations to join a sorority) you will only receive one; meaning you won't receive a bid from Kappa Delta and Sigma Delta Tau.

You will go to the events of both SDT and KD. If you think you already have your mind made up, keep an open mind. You may find out that what you though you wanted it something completely different. Also remember that each sorority has worked very hard to plan events especially for you. They want to get to know you, and in the end you might get something out of it that you never expect.

If you are on the fence, don't worry: recruitment is non-binding. And just because you receive a bid does not mean you have to accept either. You can change your mind anytime throughout the process, but it never hurts to try.

If you have any other questions about Recruitment Week, please contact anyone on Panhellenic Council, or any member of either sorority's Recruitment Teams. We are all here to help guide you and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Both groups also have Facebook pages where all the events will be listed: times, dates, and places. You can also find more information about either group on their National Websites as well. Also keep an eye out for emails and flyers!

Good Luck Ladies! I can't wait to see you at Recruitment!
