Check up from the Neck Up

emmanuelblogWho ever thought a health fair could be so much fun! Last week I facilitated the University Health Care Center table, and we gave away many gifts. From fragrances to pamphlets full of noteworthy health information, the table that Lambda Sigma assisted with had everything to offer. Aside from the presents we had, active nursing students were taking people’s blood pressure, weighing them, and even measuring their height! And the best part about the health fair was that everything was free! Yes, that’s right, I said free; even Lackman got involved and set up a table where any of the participants could decorate a soft backed sugar cookie with a variety of frosting as well as a variety of sprinkles. I was fortunate enough to have a cookie made for me by one of the participants who got her blood pressure measured. Lucky me!

As fun as last week’s Sophomore Scoop Series event was, we need to acknowledge that the health fair is done with. But one thing that will never die out is all the fun that everyone is having on Wednesday’s from 11:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. This week, the Sophomore Scoop Series will be taking a brief intermission, but it will be back and in full effect on November 11th, 2009. On November 11th, the Sophomore Scoop Series will sponsor “Check up from the Neck Up,” an event hosted by the University Counseling Center.

Unfortunately, there is a stigma that follows the word ‘counseling,’ but I am convinced that just one visit to the counseling center will change your minds indefinitely! The counselors that work here at Pace University are very highly qualified and intellectual individuals who are in their positions only to help anyone in need of it.

Aside from the invaluable help that you will be receiving, no one will ever have to know! The Counseling Center here at Pace University strongly emphasizes their system of confidentiality. So why not come out and show support to the people that you can safely say are here only to help you. Remember that all of the Sophomore Scoop Series events are held in the Well area of the Kessel Student Center. I hope to see you all there and happy studying to everyone!
