Inside the Actors Studio gets a father-daughter duo on Monday, December 2.
It’s all relative at the next Inside the Actors Studio taping as James Lipton’s hotseat gets a father-daughter film and TV actors: The Derns.
Laura Dern, Golden Globe-winning star of HBO’s Enlightened, will be the daughter part of the duo. You may also know Dern from Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster Jurassic Park, David Lynch’s Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart, October Sky starring recent Inside the Actors Studio guest Jake Gylenhaal, and I Am Sam.
Laura Dern’s father and co-guest Bruce Dern has film and TV credits going back to 1960. Bruce Dern, who recently won the Best Actor award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Alexander Payne's Nebraska, is best known for playing sociopaths, psychotics, criminals, and killers.
He’s worked with Alfred Hitchcock, played Bette Davis’ young lover in Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte, and killed John Wayne’s character in The Cowboys. He also starred alongside Robert Redford in the 1974 film adaption of The Great Gatsby and earned an Oscar nod for his work in Coming Home, featuring Jon Voight and Jane Fonda.
The taping will be on Monday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Schimmel Theatre on the NYC Campus. A Pace ID admits one, space permitting, to the taping. Non-Performing Arts students should join the standby line, which forms along the hallway adjacent to the Aniello Bianco Room. Students must be in line in order to receive a ticket. Friends, family, etc. who are not part of the Pace Community should join the General standby line which forms outside of 3 Spruce Street. Again, admission is not guaranteed. Westchester students who are interested in attending should register with SDCA. A bus will leave from Dow Hall at 4:45 p.m and North Hall at 5:00 p.m. and take you down to the NYC Campus.
