Message from the Dean
Nira Herrmann, PhD, Dean
Welcome to the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Web site. The site will introduce you to our many programs, our accomplished faculty and staff, and our diverse students. We hope you will find a lot to interest and challenge you as you explore and consider coming to Pace University.
We now have a wonderful video available on the site that was written, produced, and directed by Dyson students majoring in communications, and includes actors who are Dyson performing arts students. It will give you an overview of our programs and our campuses from a student perspective.
You can learn a great deal more about Dyson departments, undergraduate and graduate programs, and courses on our Web pages. Read about our dynamic faculty, our excellent students, the myriad activities we offer on and off campus, and the many ways you can take advantage of the opportunities Pace provides you to learn, grow, and contribute through civic engagement. Dyson College’s faculty has created a roster of challenging programs and courses to stimulate your creativity and spark your intellect. Dyson College’s staff stands ready to support your learning, answer your questions, and help you succeed.
Dyson’s programs emphasize the connections between theory and practical experience. We offer a wide variety of majors, minors, and core courses that will allow you to engage important issues from multiple perspectives, to deepen your understanding of the world, to sharpen your analytical and critical skills, and to foster your creativity and self-expression.
Be sure to check out our innovative Core Curriculum, designed to give you a well-rounded liberal arts education with enough flexibility so that you can adapt it to your interests. A key feature of the Core Curriculum is its emphasis on Learning Communities, a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to examining major issues that brings together faculty and students from diverse perspectives.
If you still have questions or would like to know more about any of our programs, please contact the Dean’s Office to meet with one of our advisors. We will be happy to provide you with additional information.
I hope you will join me as part of the Pace University community of scholars, to take advantage of all the possibilities offered to you under Pace’s motto, “Opportunitas.”
