Dyson College’s Art Department on Pace University’s New York City campus provides a stimulating environment for you to develop your artistic potential. Earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Art or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Art or Art History. Study with our outstanding faculty of internationally recognized professional artists and distinguished educators. Small class sizes allow for a high degree of individual attention. Internships for credit expand your practical experience and enhance your career opportunities, providing access to leading galleries and museums, design, media, and fashion firms, film production companies, and magazine publishers.
International study is available through an extensive list of Pace-affiliated universities abroad, as well as departmentally-sponsored trips to destinations like Florence, Berlin, or Paris. Dyson College’s Gotham House offers Art students the opportunity to become part of a social network of students with similar interests. Activities include free trips to museums, films, and Broadway shows. Career panels and Visiting Artist lectures are offered every semester. Two galleries on campus display contemporary art as well as student and faculty work.
BA in Art
The BA in Art offered on the New York City campus provides a general, liberal arts education to students in the fields of both art and design. Classes are offered in painting, drawing, sculpture, film and video production, printmaking photography, interior design, digital media (graphic design, web design, animation, 3D design, and illustration), and art history. The 36-credit degree permits students to develop a solid level of competence in the field, grounded in art historical practice. Both traditional and new media may be studied independently or merged, and taken in combination with lecture courses, internships, and study abroad. The degree is designed to provide curricular flexibility without sacrificing depth. The BA degree is ideal for students who wish to double major with another liberal arts field.
No portfolio is required for admission into the BA in Art program. All students interested in studying any of the practice-based fields offered in the Art department may enter Pace in the BA program and then apply with a portfolio for acceptance into the more focused BFA degree in Art.
Business Insider recognized Pace as providing first-rate integrated learning opportunities, where students “gain hands-on experience in their fields through internships, practicums, and fieldwork."
