Clinical Opportunities

Unique to Pace, our majors have the opportunity to do clinical work, on campus, in their last two semesters of study. The Emil Froeschels Speech and Hearing Center, an on-campus facility offering diagnosis and treatment of speech and language disorders, serves the needs of Pace students and staff, and of adults and children from the community with communication disorders. With its two-room hearing testing suite, therapy rooms, and computers for acoustic analysis, therapy, and research, the Center provides a variety of therapeutic materials for student use.

In addition to gaining experience in dealing with a range of communication problems at the speech and hearing center, students observe and participate in the therapeutic process at area hospitals, schools, and day care centers including La Escuela Hispana Head Start, Hamilton-Madison House Day Care Center, Aaron Academy, Good Shepherd Services, and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. This practical application of theories learned in the classroom is an integral and invaluable part our communication sciences and disorders program.
