Partnering with the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, the program takes the “long view” by investing in the education of today’s leaders, combining theory and practice to secure the democracy of the United States through high-level strategy, preparation, and organization.

Graduates with this MA from Pace can play a critical role in:

  • Preventing crime and disrupting terrorist attacks
  • Protecting against human and natural hazards
  • Managing large-scale public safety plans

Vagueness and confusion are best answered with knowledge and understanding. Pace’s master’s degree focuses on bridging the gap between what we know and how we do it, between theory and practice, and between what is happening now and what we may face in the future.

Partnership with Center for Homeland Defense and Security
This is a collaborative effort with the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) University Agency and Partnership Initiative. Located within the Naval Postgraduate School, CHDS was established in 2003 in response to the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

As a participant in the University Agency and Partnership Initiative, Pace has access to all CHDS course offerings, as well as to its Homeland Security Digital Library. The program’s curriculum incorporates selected CHDS courses.

Diverse and Expert Faculty
Our faculty members have diverse backgrounds and experience with a variety of homeland security agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and state and local police, fire, and public health organizations.

Military Friendly School

Pace University recognizes and honors the commitment and sacrifices our brave soldiers have demonstrated during times of crises. In fact, Pace University was selected by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School for 2012, an honor awarded to only 15% of all colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide. We are firmly committed to assisting veterans in pursuing higher education. Learn more
