The Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Theater/ Commercial Dance is the only one of its kind in New York City and offers comprehensive dance training to bridge the gap from classical dance technique to the professional world of commercial dance.
This Pace University program is an exclusive blend of the highest quality of professional dance training and theater studies. Students will be prepared for an all-encompassing professional career on stage, television and commercials with training by current working professionals in Acting, Vocal Studies, Technical theater and a variety of current, pertinent dance styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Theater Dance, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Aerial Arts.
A NEW APPROACH
At Pace, we want to nurture your unique attributes as a dancer. Our approach is a balance of process (the work) and product (the performance). Our class size and specific curriculum will ensure that you receive the individual attention you need to ensure your growth as a dancer as well as achieve your academic success.
SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT
We believe that an audience is a key element to the development of the performer. Students have the opportunity to performin more than 50 annual productions in one of our many performance spaces including plays, performance labs, and the annual dance concert, Dance Out Loud. Students are also encouraged to pursue internships and gain additional “real world” experience in the industry. With permission, performing arts students regularly work on and off Broadway, on television, film and behind the scenes in various entertainment corporations.
A WORKING FACULTY
Our faculty is comprised of New York dance professionals who have the unique ability and passion to work with young dancers. A Broadway cast member may teach your theater dance class, a New York Ballet Company dancer may teach Ballet and Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop may be taught by a working commercial choreographer or a Radio City Rockette. Our dance seminar classes feature industry guests such as agents and casting directors to teach you how to navigate the entertainment industry.
A CHANCE TO CONNECT
Every successful career is based as much on what you know as who you know. Our campus is located in the heart of the dance community of New York City. You start to build relationships and your network of industry professionals the day you arrive at Pace.
Our guest choreographers and master class artists are some of the top in the field. Recent visiting artists include Jack O’Brien, Jerry Mitchell, Donna Drake and Curtis Holbrook.
We believe that your career begins the day you enter our program, not the day you graduate!
