BFA in Commercial Dance
Pace Performing Arts’ Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Dance is the only one of its kind in New York City offering comprehensive dance training that bridges the gap between classical dance technique and the professional world of commercial dance.
The Commercial Dance major blends the highest quality of dance and theater training preparing students for diverse careers on stage, television, film, and the entertainment industry. Commercial Dance students train with leading professionals in ballet, jazz, modern, theater dance, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and aerial work as well as in acting, singing, and technical theater.
At Pace Performing Arts we believe that live performance is a key element in the training and development of young artists. PPA provides students the opportunity to perform in more than 50 productions a year (plays, musicals, camera shoots and dance concerts including dancesPace and Dance Out Loud) in one of our many performance spaces. Students are also encouraged to pursue internships and gain additional “real world” experience in the industry. With department permission, students can work on and off Broadway, on television, film, and behind the scenes in various entertainment corporations.
Pace Performing Arts’ Commercial Dance major is home to some of the most sought after dance professionals in the industry - all with a vast network of industry connections. Our teachers offer a fresh perspective on dance training and provide a wealth of expertise and inspiration. In addition, Commercial Dance classes feature industry guests such as agents and casting directors to teach you how to navigate the ever-growing entertainment industry.
Every successful career is based as much on who you know as what you know. Our campus is located in the heart of the dance community of New York City. You can start to build relationships and your network of industry professionals the day you arrive at Pace Performing Arts.
Recent guest choreographers and master artists include Brian Friedman, Mandy Moore, Tiler Peck, Gregg Russell, Cherice Barton, Jerry Mitchell, Chase Brock, Donna Drake and Curtis Holbrook.
Your career begins the day you enter Pace Performing Arts not the day you graduate!
