Civic Engagement and Public Values Course Support
One hallmark of the Pace Core Curriculum is a three-credit Civic Engagement and Public Values requirement. The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) strives to support this component of the core curriculum. Among other things, we aid faculty by offering information on best practices in community-based learning and research, supplemental readings, and reflection exercises. Additionally, we can assist faculty in their efforts to find appropriate sites for students’ community placements, and assistants to help monitor students’ placements over the course of the semester.We are proud of the fact that we presently offer over 100 community-based learning course sections at Pace that cut across all schools and disciplines, each and every year.

Faculty who teach CE courses can apply for a faculty assistant to assist them with the community component of their course. Download the request form here, and submit via email using the information above.

One of the hallmarks of the University’s core curriculum is a three credit Civic Engagement and Public Value (formerly known as AOKI) course, reflecting Pace University’s commitment to foster participatory citizenship among students. The Office of the President and Project Pericles at Pace are pleased to be able to support the development or retooling of Civic Engagement and Public Value courses with this grant. To be considered eligible for the grant the course must explicitly address the topics of social responsibility and active citizenship. Limited grants of $1000 for newly developed courses and $500 to retool an existing Civic Engagement and Public Value course.

The Periclean Faculty Leadership Program is a national faculty leadership and course development program dedicated to incorporating civil dialogue, civic engagement, and social responsibility across the undergraduate curriculum, as critical goals within higher education. The Periclean Faculty Leadership Program is a program for tenure-track and tenured faculty members of any academic rank who teach full-time at Periclean colleges and universities, of which Pace is one.
