Annual Mock Hearing
Legislative Mock Hearing
Every spring, undergraduate teams from multiple majors research and prepare testimony on an emerging environmental issue, counseled by Pace Law students. They present their testimony at a competitive legislative mock hearing before a committee comprised of professionals that have included legislators, judges, deans, and scholars. Hearing topics have included water policy reform, dairy regulation, and electricity generation and distribution.
The spring 2016 Mock Hearing will address the responsibilities of regulatory agencies and the ways in which we can harness nanotech without harming our health and environment.
As seen in reports like those from Wilson Center Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies, widespread use of nanotech will challenge regulatory agencies to balance important potential benefits against the possibility of significant environmental risk.
Prior mock hearing topics have included:
- New York's Reforming the Energy Vision Efficiency, Resiliency, Profitability, Sustainability
- Building a New York Dairy Industry that is Economically, Environmentally, and Ethically Sound
- Clean Water Act: The 40th Anniversary and Beyond
