Amy Foerster

 

 

 

Professor  Amy Foerster is a sociologist whose research interests include immigration, social movements and labor studies. Her undergraduate work was conducted at the University of California, Riverside where she received a B.S. in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies (1992). She earned both her Master’s degree (1995) and Ph.D. (2000) in Sociology at Cornell University. She is currently researching the participation and incorporation of immigrants and their second-generation children in New York City's labor unions. Professor Foerster typically teaches courses such as Introductory Sociology; Race & Ethnicity; Gender, Race and Class; and Class Inequality in the United States.  She is also a member of the Women’s Studies faculty.
