Dr. Caroline Joy DeBrovner

 

 

Caroline Joy DeBrovner is a sociologist and a critical criminologist with research focus on sociology of law, deviance and social control, gender and sexual diversity, and currently moving into the area of juvenile justice.  She earned her B.A, with Honors, in Sociology from Vassar College (1990), where she was elected to their chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her first M.A. in Sociology from Yale University (1992), and her PhD in Sociology from New York University (2000). Her dissertation was entitled: Stigma, Sex, and Law: The Conflation of Sex, Gender, and Sexual Orientation in Legal Discourse.
