Welcome to our newly designed Dyson Digital Digest. The redesign brings our electronic newsletter into alignment with the “look” of the new Pace Web site. We are still building our new Web site to make it easier for prospective and current students as well as faculty, staff and alumni/ae to find useful information.Let us know what you think!

This fall we celebrated the 35th anniversary of the naming of the Charles H. Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, a major milestone for the College. We are pleased to be able to report that Dyson College enrollments have increased to a total of 4,071 students, comprising 3,231 undergraduates (3,034 full-time equivalents) and 840 graduate students (548 full-time equivalents).

We have also hired new faculty, as you will read in the Faculty and Staff Notes, and we have initiated several new degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the executive master’s degree (MA) in Management for Public Safety and Homeland Security and the MA in Media and Communication Arts.

We look forward to our continuing relationship with the Dyson family, whose generous donation has allowed us to renovate Dyson Hall, the science lab building on the Pleasantville campus. Students and faculty are enthusiastic about the results of phase I, completed over last summer. The renovation will be completed next summer.

As you see, Dyson College continues to grow, to innovate, and to educate. We believe Charles Dyson would be pleased to see how his commitment to the liberal arts at Pace has taken root and flourished. You can watch a video on the evolution of the college on our Web site and join us in our celebration!

We hope you enjoy this issue of the Digest. You may have noticed that it is coming to you as a double issue and on a later schedule than usual—and for a very good reason: our editor (and Dyson Director of Communications), Brooke Springer, gave birth to her first child, Michaela, at the end of the summer. Our warmest congratulations to Brooke and her husband (and Pace alumnus!) Josh on the birth of their beautiful daughter!
