English Dept NYC Awarded Teagle Foundation Grant
The English Department on the New York City campus and the Boys’ Club of New York have been awarded a $25,000 renewable grant from the Teagle Foundation for the 2006-2007 academic year to collaborate on a community teaching project which will provide selected members of the Boys’ Club with college-level learning experience based on the disciplines of film and writing.
The grant will fund lectures and workshops on writing and film under the theme of “ New York in Film.” Each week, members of the Boys’ Club will gather at the Pace University downtown campus and participate in a series of film lectures, given by our faculty. Additionally, students will participate in small writing workshops led by undergraduate “Writing Fellows,” English majors selected for their superior writing and tutoring skills.
