Dyson Foundation Awards Dyson College $7.5M Gift

With enormous appreciation, we proudly announce that Dyson College is the beneficiary of a $7.5 million gift from the Dyson Foundation. As the foundation has designated, $5 million is allocated for improving the science labs in Dyson Hall on the Pleasantville campus; $2 million for scholarships to students majoring in psychology, communications and media, performing arts, fine arts, environmental science, and environmental studies; and one-half million for the creation of the Dyson Student Opportunities Fund to support student retention projects. It is the foundation’s largest gift bestowed in celebration of its 50th Anniversary, as well as the third largest gift in Pace University’s history.

We are very excited by this demonstration of confidence in Dyson College and the education we provide to our students and to students across the university. Robert R. Dyson, the foundation’s president, is the son of Charles H. Dyson, for whom our college is named. It is especially gratifying to see the family tradition of support for the college continue into the next generation, and we look forward to carrying on this important partnership into our second century.

Upon learning of the gift, alumnus Dr. Anthony Gagliardi ‘75 wrote about an extraordinary act of generosity and kindness he experienced as an undergraduate student with Charles Dyson.

The gift was announced by Robert Dyson on February 1 in Dyson Hall on the Pleasantville campus.
