This spring James Lipton, founding dean of the Actors Studio Drama School and host of Inside the Actors Studio was visibly emotional as the day he’d waited for nearly 17 years had finally arrived, the day that an alumnus of the school finally took the hot seat on his show. Bradley Cooper, a class of 2000 ASDS graduate, was the guest. Watch the video.
Since Cooper graduated from the program at its former location (at the New School), The Actors Studio Drama School relocated in 2006 to its new home at Pace University where it continues to flourish. Following the Stanislavski System and The Method, students get a rigorous training from some of the most renowned acting, playwriting, and directing teachers in the world together with some of the prestigious lifetime members of The Actors Studio, such as Ellen Burstyn, one of the studio’s co-presidents.
This year’s graduates are in full swing, presenting their showcase work in the 2011 Repertory Season. Recent alumni are already landing roles on stage and screen, and some have gained lifetime memberships to the legendary Actors Studio. Read more alumni achievements.
