Chemistry Students March for the Earth
Approximately 175 students and faculty from Dyson College and other local colleges and universities walked the Brooklyn Bridge to raise awareness about Earth Day. The march was part of the American Chemical Society’s 2nd Annual Chemists Celebrate Earth Day Event. Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies, Philosophy, and History, Marley Bauce, gave a keynote address about the interconnectedness of the human species and the planet earth. Assistant Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences, JaimeLee Iolani Rizzo, organized the event.

Economics Team Wins Honorable Mention in National College Fed Challenge Finals
It was a first in the history of Pace University. Dyson College undergraduate economics majors Nashrah Ahmed, Kelsey Berro, Daniel Boutarel, William Hellander, and Sofya Sternik comprised the award-winning College Fed Challenge team that took Pace to the national competition in Washington, D.C. on November 27, 2012. This was the first time Pace advanced to the national finals. Their outstanding performance was recognized with an honorable mention.

Model United Nations Teams   Pace’s Model United Nations Teams Bring Home Nine Awards
The Pace Westchester and Pace New York City Model United Nation teams competed against 90 universities in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) conference, themed “Change Your World.” The two teams were recognized with a combined total of nine awards, including the top honor of Outstanding Delegation for Pace Westchester who represented Japan. Pace New York City represented Kenya and Uganda.
Media, Communications and Visual Arts students’ Sea Turtle Documentary Project Mentioned in New York Times’ Dot Earth Blog
Undergraduate and graduate Media, Communications and Visual Arts students spent spring break in Baja, Mexico filming a documentary about endangered sea turtles. Andrew C. Revkin, Senior Fellow for Environmental Understanding at Pace Academy and NY Times’ Dot Earth blogger, mentions the production in his recent blog post.

Publishing Research Quarterly   M.S. Publishing Student Joya Anthony’s Thesis Extract Was Published
Congratulations to M.S. Publishing student, Joya Anthony. An extract of her thesis The Challenge of E-Book Growth in International Markets was published in the Publishing Research Quarterly. Joya’s thesis is a timely examination of international markets in the age of digital content and e-readers.

Pace Performing Arts senior BA Theater Arts major Chris Bert landed a role on Person of Interest on CBS. He played the role of young Michael Emerson.
Dyson Student Competed in Miss Teen USA
Dyson communications major Thatiana Diaz ’14 is no stranger to the tiara. A Miss Teen New York 2010, Thatiana competed against 50 other girls for the title of Miss Teen USA, where she finished among the top 15.

Anna Friedman, a Pace Performing Arts BFA Acting major, had a supporting role in the feature film, Milkshake. The dark comedy premiered as part of the Sundance Film Festival’s Next program and was acquired by Phase 4 Films.

Hayley Griffith   Acting Major Lands Role on Law and Order SVU
Pace Performing Arts freshman BFA Acting major Hayley Griffith was cast in an episode of Law & Order SVU. Her past credits include a supporting role in the independent film Five Years Later, as well as a national commercial for Burlington Coat Factory.

Jeff Heimbrock cast in Book of Mormon on Broadway
Pace Performing Arts sophomore Musical Theater major, Jeff Heimbrock was selected for the Broadway cast of the hit musical Book of Mormon. Heimbrock was a swing for the production, covering various roles.

Dyson College Senior Wins Fulbright Grant
Graduating senior and psychology major, Kerry McBroome ’13, was awarded a prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program Grant in Malaysia. She will receive a month of intensive language training in Kuala Lumpur and then transfer to a post in rural Malaysia where she will work with primary and secondary students. Upon returning to the United States in November 2014, McBroome will begin a doctoral program at Stanford University.

Communication Studies sophomore, Marisch Perera, was awarded a New York Women in Communications Scholarship.

Megan Peterson   Megan Peterson Lands a Spot with the Rockettes
Megan Peterson, a Pace Performing Arts Commercial Dance major landed a spot with the famous Rockettes. She toured with the company for the latter part of 2012.

Jake Robbins Lands Roll in independent film, Interior. Leather Bar.
Pace Performing Arts BA Acting student Jake Robbins played the role of “Jake” in Interior. Leather Bar., a film co-directed by actor James Franco and Travis Mathews. The film screened at the Sundance Film Festival in the New Frontier category.

Opal Vadhan Wins New York Women in Communications Foundation Scholarship
Dyson College sophomore, Opal Vadhan, won the prestigious New York Women in Communications Foundation WEtv Scholarship. Based on academic achievement and leadership, the scholarship was awarded to a student pursuing a career in broadcast production. Vadhan is a Communications Major and a Marketing and Women’s and Gender Studies Minor.
