For the fourth year in a row, the Pace Physician Assistant (PA) program sent a team to compete in the NYSSPA (New York State Society of Physician Assistants) Medical Jeopardy Tournament in October 2007.
The students answer questions in the “Jeopardy” format on a wide range of medical topics and the PA profession. The teams are composed of three students who are NYSSPA members, one of which is a non-senior student. This year, our team members were seniors Anja Summers, Leslie Schlacter, and junior Eduardo Yarur. Eight teams from the New York area (Pace University, Long Island University, St. John’s (defending champs), Wagner, New York Institute of Technology, Stonybrook, Albany and Cornell) competed for prizes and the right to brag they are the best PA students in the state.
The Pace team made it to the final round but was defeated by Cornell. Undaunted, our team is now honing their medical trivia and will compete in the 2008 National Medical Challenge Bowl hosted by SAAAPA (Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants) at the 36th Annual American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) conference this May.
Congratulations to the Pace PA team for their wonderful result, and good luck in May!
