Cooperative Education
The Cooperative Education Program places graduate students in paid
career-related work experiences. Graduate co-op opportunities include summer internships,
part-time positions during the school year and full-time internships for one semester.
Co-op work experiences complement the curricula in the graduate schools of business, arts
and sciences, computer science and information systems, education and nursing. Co-op
students work in the fields of accounting, advertising, finance, human resources,
management, marketing, public relations, education, social services, computer science,
information systems and nursing.
Cooperative education placements benefit students by providing
excellent work experience, good salaries, contacts for permanent employment and the
opportunity for professional development.
To be eligible for a Co-op experience, graduate students must have a
strong undergraduate record, be matriculated in a graduate program carrying at least six
credits, and a minimum grade point average of 3.00 in their graduate-level courses.
Pace's Cooperative Education Program is among the largest programs
among senior colleges and universities in the nation and the leading program in the New
York metropolitan area, placing students in more than 450 organizations. Pace Co-op
employers include national and multinational corporations, medium and smaller firms, as
well as government and nonprofit organizations.
Counseling and Personal Development Center
Helping students realize their full potential for growth and
development is a major responsibility of Counseling Services. The counseling process
teaches students to think objectively about themselves and their relationships with
others. This is accomplished through a variety of services which are provided free of
charge to Pace students. These services include:
 | Personal Counseling-Professionally trained counselors
are available for students who wish to discuss personal or emotional difficulties in
complete confidentiality.
|
 | Educational Counseling-Students who are unsure of
their educational and career goals, lack motivation, are indecisive and worried about
choosing a major or simply do not know how to go about studying effectively find
Counseling Services especially helpful.
|
 | Vocational Counseling-Vocational counseling helps
students appraise their interests, aptitudes and personality traits. Counselors frequently
use tests to reveal these characteristics. By gaining self-understanding, students become
better equipped to make decisions vital to their educational and vocational futures.
|
 | Coordinators of Disabled Students-The University makes
every effort to meet the special needs of disabled students and strives to bring each one
into the mainstream of campus life. Pace counselors act as coordinators and work
cooperatively with professionals from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the
Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.
