At the end of the first year, students are required to take a Qualifying Examination. Students must pass the examination in order to proceed to the second year of study. Students are allowed to take the Qualifying Examination a maximum of two times.

At the end of the second year, upon completion of at least 42 graduate hours in the program, students are eligible for the New York State Psychology Internship Certificate.

Note: Candidates who want New Jersey School Psychology Certification should contact the program director.

Before students are enrolled in the Bilingual School Psychology internship, they must pass a language proficiency examination and demonstrate that they are capable of providing psychological services to bilingual populations in their native language.

The final school psychology internship for the Bilingual School Psychology Program may be completed under Option I or Option 2 (See description under M.S.Ed. School Psychology degree program). Students who have entered the doctoral program with Advanced Standing must enroll in PSY 705B and PSY 706B in addition to completing the other bilingual school psychology requirements.

 

Confirmation of the M.S.Ed. in Bilingual School Psychology

Students who successfully complete all of the requirements for the master's program in bilingual school psychology and pass the Proficiency Exam will receive the M.S. Ed. in Bilingual School Psychology from Pace University and be recommended to New York State for the Certificate of Qualification in Bilingual School Psychology. Students in the bilingual school psychology master's program are eligible to apply for the doctoral program in School-Clinical Child Psychology.

 

Note: Candidates who want New Jersey School Psychology Certification are required to take EDU 628 (3 credits).
