The master's degree program in school psychology coincides with much of the first three years of study in the Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology program. Candidates must fulfill the residency requirements of .50 credits at Pace University.
Students who successfully complete all of the requirements for the master's program in school psychology and pass the Proficiency Exam will receive the M.S.Ed. in School Psychology from Pace University and be recommended to New York State for the Certificate of Qualification in School Psychology. Students in the master's program are eligible to apply for the doctoral program in school-clinical child psychology. Advanced Standing students who complete the Bilingual School Psychology program are eligible for the certificate of Qualification in Bilingual School Psychology but not the M.S.Ed. in Bilingual School Psychology. .

At the end of the first year, students are required to take a Qualifying Examination in order to proceed. Students must pass the examination in order to proceed to the second year of study. Students are allowed to take the Qualifying Examination a maximum of two times.

At the end of the second year, upon completion of at least 42 graduate credit hours in the program, students are eligible for the New York State school Psychology Internship Certificate.

There are two options for masters school psychology students to complete their school psychology internship requirements: Option 1 requires students to complete PSY 750: 4 credits (3 days per week, over 20 weeks, in a school setting) and PSY 751: 4 credits (4 days per week, over 20 weeks, in a school setting). This option is completed during one year of study. Option 1 includes a three-hour seminar once a week for the 40 weeks of school psychology internship. Option 2 requires students to complete PSY 760: 2 credits (2 days per week, over 20 weeks, in a school setting), PSY 761: 2 credits (2 days per week, over 20 weeks, in a school setting), PSY 762: 2 credits (2 days per week, over 20 weeks in a school setting), and PSY 763: 2 credits (2 days per week, over 20 weeks, in a school setting). Option 2 is completed over two years of study. Option 2 includes a three-hour seminar once a week for the 40 weeks for each of the two years of school psychology internship.
The M.S.ED program has the school psychology internship as its final culminating experience. To enhance this experience, students enroll in PSY 734 (Consultation) and PSY 759 (Early Childhood and Infant Assessment) early in their internship (fall). These courses facilitate integration of prior learning and broaden the final internship field experience.
