Selected undergraduates and graduate students have the opportunity to work at Haskins Labs on original research projects. Students are instructed in techniques necessary for the maintenance and growth of parasitic microorganisms. Once assigned a research project, students get a hands-on experience in the use of sophisticated instrumentation and are involved in all aspects of the work. They have the opportunity to present their research findings at National meetings where they can meet and discuss their work with scientists from all around the world. Many students present their work as a research paper to the Dyson Society of Fellows, where they become members of this distinguished society. Students are also coauthored in research in peer reviewed research papers.
With some exceptions, these students upon graduation go into medicine, dentistry, or graduate school. Thus Haskins Laboratories continues to provide service to the Pace community.
