Evening English Programs

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Courses are designed for non-native English speakers who want to improve their English language skills for academic, personal and professional reasons.

CONVERSATION, GRAMMAR & PRONUNCIATION

This course emphasizes accurate and fluent pronunciation in the context of discussions of occupations, history, culture, politics, and current events. After viewing and discussing professional talks, students participate in activities aimed at helping them integrate and use the new vocabulary and idioms.

CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION, GRAMMAR & PRONUNCIATION

Please mail your registration form and your payment payable to Pace University to your office. Payment in a personal check or money order only. Without your payment, we cannot reserve a seat. Please make your check or money order payable to “Pace University.” The au pair’s name should be written in the memo section of the check. If you are using a money order, please bring it to our office in person as we will not be able to be responsible for the loss of money order.

NOTE: If you have already taken a class (Weekend, Evening, Saturday, Weekday, or TOEFL Blast) with us before, you already have a university account. You MUST activate the account before registering for a new course. Please DO NOT create a new account. Please read the Online Registration Instruction including the Account Activation. Multiple accounts will make it difficult to verify classes you took for your credit hour requirement. If you get "Duplicate Course" message, please call (914) 422-4042 or e-mail the English Language Institute.

Classroom: The afternoon course will be held in Aloysia 305. The evening course will be held in Ottinger G-02. Classroom maybe changed. An email will be sent to you before the start of the course. If you do not see the email from ELI in a few days before the class start date, please check your junk mail folder, or call ELI at 914-422-4042.


Parking

Please make sure you will see the parking map (PDF) and park in the designated areas to avoid a ticket. If you drive to the campus and need a parking tag, please fill out the Pace University Car Registration (PDF) and give it to your instructor.


Attendance Policy

Students must attend all class meetings. Please inform your instructor or the ELI Office if you must miss a class. Students may miss a maximum of 2 class meetings without penalty in the Intensive Morning and Evening Programs, and a maximum of 1 class meeting without penalty in the Saturday Program. After the third missed class meeting for the Intensive Morning and Evening Programs, and after the second missed class meeting in the Saturday Program, students must submit a makeup writing assignment. If any additional class meetings are missed, you will only receive credit for the number of hours actually attended.


ID Policy

Saturday, Evening, TOEFL Blast, and Weekday Intensive students will receive an ELI ID card. Please keep the card with you if you plan to continue or if you think you may take our courses in the future. You will be charged $20 if you need the replacement card. Please be informed that Weekend Intensive students will not receive the ID card.
