EDL 673M Recent Approaches in Education: Environmental Education (3 credits)
The Pace University Environmental Education Seminar is a five day course designed to enhance elementary school teachers' understanding of environmental studies. Through a series of classes, teachers explore aspects of environmental topics in a way relevant to them. The course provides students with a hands-on experience adaptable to a traditional classroom setting, incorporates concepts found in the New York State Science Curriculum, provides teachers with an up to date meaningful examination of environmental topics, and teaches creative ways of implementing ecology into urban and sub-urban settings. This course includes hands-on fieldwork and demonstrations, in the classroom and out of doors. Students will have the opportunity to participate in seminars on current topics and to develop lesson plans. Field study will take students on off-campus expeditions. Time may be spent on Long Island Sound or the Hudson River.
Note: Some courses may not be offered each semester. Some courses run only once per academic year, or every other academic year. Search the class schedule for current offerings.
