Composting on the Pleasantville Campus

In a joint effort Facilities Operations and Maintenance teamed with Carmelo Apollonio our landscape contractor to compost the landscape waste accumulated over the past year. Grass clippings from the athletic fields were transported to and stored in the recycle area above Gannet House. During last fall the grass clippings were mixed with the ground-up leaves from the 3 Westchester Campuses. Carmelo Apollonio mixed the mulch pile every month using heavy equipment. During early April the compost was mixed with an equal amount of topsoil and then screened. Pace and Carmelo Apollonio Contractor then shared in the bounty.
