I am first time user, how do I find my user name and password?
Before using any of the Pace University online systems, you must first activate your account. This is a one-time process and only takes a few minutes. Click here to activate your account.
How can I log into Blackboard?
To log in, you will need to know your Pace username. You can find your username by going to http://whitepages.pace.edu and entering your name (sample usernames are: cw94975n, tr87689w and jc73732p. The username translates to your first and last name initial, a random number followed by campus.). Once you have your username, go to https://blackboard.pace.edu and click LOGIN. Enter your USERNAME and your PASSWORD (it is the same as your Pace Portal password. If you are new to Pace and have not accessed the Portal at all the default password is your two initials, a dash, and your six digit birthdate. For example cm-010579.) If you have problems with access, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 914-773-3333.
I forgot my password, how do I retrieve it?
Go to http://portal.pace.edu and follow the instructions located under the section entitled "IF YOUR PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK."
I do not see my class in Blackboard, what do I do?
One possible reason for this problem is that you may not be registered for the course or may have registered late. Students are automatically enrolled in Blackboard from Banner, this process takes approximatley 4 hours. Blackboard courses are made available on the first day of class. If you log into Blackboard and you do not see your courses listed, DO NOT PANIC. All courses are made available on the first official day of the semester and your instructor has the ability to make the course available prior to the first day. However, not all instructors make their online courses available prior to the first day of class. If, after the first day of class you still do not see your course, put in a Helpdesk ticket at: https://help.pace.edu with your full name and the course information.
Will this course be self-paced?
Many students think that because the course is online, it will be done independent of deadlines and without any peer interaction. Online courses will have weekly deadlines just similar to face-to-face courses. Participation in the discussion board will most likely expected throughout the week. You must not wait until the last day in the week to post or submit assignments because that will prevent others from responding to their comments. Also, you need to allow extra time in case of technical problems.
How will my participation be graded?
In order to pass an online course, you must be present. The only way an instructor will know you are present is if you participate in the discussion board. Participation will be graded both in terms of quality and quantity. Postings should reflect your understanding of the course documents and the reading materials, as well as your awareness of other comments from the group. Your instructor will give you further information once your class begins.
Help, my posting disappeared.
If you forget to click "submit" or if you lose your Internet connection while you are posting, your message will be lost. Instead, we recommend typing your posting into a program like Notepad or Word first and then copy and paste it into the discussion board. This way, you will have a copy in case anything goes wrong.
How much time will I need to spend online? or How many times a week will I need to log on?
You should expect to spend a considerable amount of time online reading course documents and e-reserves, consulting external web sites and reading and responding to messages on the discussion board. Similar to a face-to-face course, there will also be a great deal of offline time spent reading and preparing assignments. In general, it seems as if online courses require more time for students (and for faculty) but they have more flexibility in choosing when to spend that time. You will be expected to log on and post several times throughout the week to allow for full discussion.
How will I hand in my assignments?
Students will be able to view assignments and due dates from the Coursework page on the course menu. Formal assignments will be submitted through Assignment tool. Your instructor will give you further information once your class begins.
Are there any known problems with using certain Internet Service Providers (ISP's)?

Blackboard users who subscribe to an Internet service (like AOL) can use the provider for connecting to the Internet but should NOT use the supplied browser. Use your provider for connecting to the Internet, then minimize the window by clicking on the minus sign in the upper, right-hand corner of your screen; open your browser and login to Blackboard.
How do I log in to my Pace Email Account?
First time users, go to email.pace.edu to login to your Pace email.
How do I forward my Pace University Email?
All email correspondence from your Blackboard course will go to your Pace email account. To forward your email to another account, click here.
