The Faculty Institute

The DNA of Pace University: Collaboration and Innovation

May 17th - 18th, 2012
Pleasantville Campus

The primary purpose of the Faculty Institute is to promote collaboration and create partnerships among faculty, staff, administrators and students.

Day One of this year’s Institute will focus on the role of the arts, sciences, and humanities in higher education. At Pace we are a university with professional schools/colleges including our own college of liberal arts. We invited Victor E. Ferrall, President Emeritus of Beloit College and author of Liberal Arts at the Brink, to speak on challenges that liberal arts colleges now confront. We have also invited participants from the Faculty Research Forum, a new program initiated this year by the Center for Teaching and Learning Technology (CTLT) and the Pforzheimer Center for Faculty Development, to share their work. The goals of the Forum were to increase publication rates of faculty and promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration at Pace University.

Day Two of the conference will address the innovations and collaborations that take place at Pace regarding interdisciplinary teaching, research and use of new technologies. A panel presentation with representatives of each of Pace's schools and colleges will showcase one of their initiatives that best exemplifies the theme of “Collaboration, Innovation & Research.” The panel presentation will be followed by additional more in-depth sessions highlighting the creative efforts of our faculty. In addition, we are pleased to have internationally acclaimed writer, speaker and innovator in the field of education and learning - Marc Prensky, who will be delivering the keynote address on day two.
