This 3-credit course, which is an open elective, is designed to have students get in contact with the bold tradition of Polish and Romanian theatre and the two former Communist countries where the experiential theatre, political theatre, and the theatre of the absurd were born. The course will offer a unique opportunity for theatre students to understand the complexity of creating work that comes out of necessity and will also expand their international interests, skills, and experience. Students will work directly with Romanian and Polish acting and directing students and attend a significant number of performances, lectures, and talkbacks.
