Voices of  Darfur Presentation

Voices of Darfuris a national speaking tour sponsored by the Save Darfur Coalition. The main goal of Voices of Darfur is to increase awareness of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan and call the general public to action by exposing them to first-hand testimonial from refugees and former residents of Darfur.
Co-sponsored with the UNICEF C.H.I.L.D. Project, Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Center for Community Service.

Making Headway and theXeroderma

Come hear a presentation on medical issues that affect a multitude of children worldwide. Two organizations will be speaking at this event. The first is Making Headway, an organization dedicated to the care, comfort, and cure of children with spinal cord and brain tumors. The second is Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society, an organization for those people with light-sensitive disorders. This event will bring awareness to these issues and encourage students to volunteer at each organization.

Trip to Jacob Burns Film Center for viewing of  Hotel Rwanda

Bus leaves Pace at 10:00am from Miller Hall on the Pleasantville campus, should return by 1:30pm
Students will receive a tour of the Jacob Burns Film center in Pleasantville, NY, and have a private viewing of Hotel Rwanda, a film that shows how, when people and governments chose to ignore the 1994 Rwanda genocide, one individual bravely risked his own life and stood up to the horror, saving 1,268 helpless refuges.

Make the holiday season brighter--join the Honors College in wrapping presents for underprivileged children. Let your creative side emerge for this worthwhile event! Ms Phina Geiger, Director of Volunteers at the Pleasantville Cottage School, will speak at this event. Co-sponsored with Psi Chi (the National Honor Society in Psychology), the Psychology Club, and Golden Key International Honor Society.

The Honors College and the Center for Community Outreach will decorate four cottages for the holidays at the Pleasantville Cottage School, while getting an introduction to residential treatment centers from Ms Phina Geiger, Director of Volunteers at the Pleasantville Cottage School.
