Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day
October 22, 2005

On Saturday, October 22, over 100 Pace honors students gathered to celebrate Make a Difference Day, a national service day dedicated to helping other people -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.  The Pforzheimer’s Honors College hosted two events co-sponsored by the Center for Community Outreach and Golden Key International Honour Society.      At the Mt. Pleasant public library, Pace Honors students were joined by community children to enjoy an afternoon of fun-filled reading.  Children loved hearing Dr. Seuss rhymes and searching for Waldo in an underwater adventure.   Then again the Honors students seemed to love it just as much.  Honors students read aloud with energy and enthusiasm while the others sat in a small circle listening attentively, waiting to hear what was on the next page.  Meanwhile students from both the Pleasantville and New York City campuses met at a school in the Bronx where things got messy.  They had an entire day of fun, painting lockers, classrooms, and each other.  Overall, Make a Difference Day was big success.  Honors students were able to give back to the community and have fun doing it.
