UNV 101 Halloween Party
October 21, 2005
On Friday, October 21, 2005, with the sweet smell of Halloween treats floating through the autumn air, the Pforzheimer Honors College hosted its annual Halloween Party for the local Pleasantville Cottage School. Ghosts, witches, and spider webs lined the walls of Gottesman Room while the children from the residential school had the chance to receive a real taste of what Halloween is all about. The Honors First-Year University 101 classes prepared several activities to indulge the costumed children. They all took part in events such as pumpkin painting and a spider ring toss. An animated clown painted and decorated the kids’ faces with anything they desired, from traditional ghosts and goblins to modern super heroes like Batman. The children were invigorated by wrapping one another like mummies with toilet paper, diving face first into the pie-eating contest, and of course showing off their dancing skills. The children received stickers for each game un which they participated in. These stickers were eventually traded in for the ultimate Halloween prize: candy! All of the PCS kids walked away with their bags packed with candy, while the Honors students walked away with the satisfaction of sharing the Halloween spirit with those that are underprivileged within our community.
