Effects of Landmines on Children

Come and join us as we celebrate the launching of a nationwide campaign to enlist university students across the country in helping to clear landmines and prevent their devastaing effects o children and families in more than 70 countries around the world.  Zac Hudson UNA/USA project on Adopt a Minefield , will discuss the impact of landmines on children and about the effort that UNA/USA has made remove landmines around the world.

Make a Difference Day is a national service day dedicated to helping other people -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. We will be reading children’s book to the children of the Pleasantville community.

Come hear a representative from the Red Cross speak about the issues facing children today worldwide.

Ms. Andrea R. Grimaldi, Director of the Westchester Red Cross Community Volunteer & Blood Services and Pace University alumna will speak about the need for the Red Cross in today's society.  The American Red Cross in Westchester County, led by volunteers and community funded, is the pacesetter and benchmark for excellence in non-profit human services.  They provide relief to all those affected by disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies, while promoting health and safety in our community.

Listen to a thought provoking presentation by the End Child Prostitution and Trafficking Organization. ECPAT is a network of organizations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography, and trafficking of children for sexual purposes. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free from all forms of commercial sexual exploitation.

Trip to TRL on MTV

Bus leaves Miller Hall at 1:20pm to catch the 1:43pm Metro-North train from Pleasantville.

You will have to pay for your own train ticket…($17.00 round trip). We need to arrive at TRL before 3:30pm. The live show begins at 5:00pm.
