Ice Cream Ice Breaker 2006

Ice Cream Ice Breaker 2006
Wednesday, September 27, 2006

On Wednesday, September 27, the Pforzheimer Honors College once again held its annual Ice Cream Ice Breaker during common hour in Gottesman Room.

The point of the event was to welcome students back to Pace, to let them know about the honors societies available to them at Pace, and to let them pig out on free ice cream, of course.  After everyone checked in and got their ice cream the afternoon’s speakers were able to begin.

The honors societies represented during the speech ranged in academics from English, Biology, Math, and Foreign Languages to Psychology, Computing, Business and Criminal Justice.  Not to mention Golden Key International Honour Society, the largest honour society in the world, is open to students from any scholastic background.

Also present at the event was Professor Ira Joe Fisher of Lambda Sigma, a national honor society for second-year students dedicated to the purpose of fostering leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and the spirit of service among college students, and to promoting the interests of the college or university in every possible way.  He encouraged students in their second year to join and those in their first year to strongly consider it for next year.

Beyond just honor societies, Pace’s Counseling Center made a presentation and UNICEF was also present.

Those speaking on behalf of their organizations had approximately 5 minutes each to do so.  Students received pamphlets and information about each one that caught their interest.

For any students who missed this event but wish to be involved in an honor society for this or coming years, please visit the Honors College website.
