Ice Cream Ice Breaker

     Ice Cream Ice Breaker

On Wednesday, September 24, 2008, 138 Honors students waited patiently in line to enter the Gottesman Room of Kessel Student Center for the annual Honors Ice Cream Ice Breaker; the first Honors event for the fall semester.

The traditional ice cream flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) were unsurprisingly available, but flavors such as Ice Cream Sandwich and Pumpkin were received with both looks of delight and disgust. Waffle bowl cones served as an alternative to plain old paper bowls and there were toppings galore, including chocolate sauce, caramel, butterscotch, chocolate chips, M&Ms, Banana-Split flavored Oreos, and many more.

Dr. Benton opened the presentations, which included fourteen speakers from various Pace University honor societies and services. Each honor society representative gave a brief description of its eligibility requirements and activities. Marc Sirico, a senior, said, “I was not aware of the History honor society that Dr. Weigold described. Thanks to this event, I am aware of it now, as well as other honor societies that exist here at Pace.”

Samantha Mann, the President of Pace University’s UNICEF C.H.I.L.D. Project, and Dr. Mariesa Bainey, a staff psychologist at the Counseling Center, spoke as well.

All students in attendance benefited from the presentations given at the event.
